Seahorses Imported on Guam

Greetings all!

A new report from the Pacific News Center has brought up that live seahorses were imported via mail into Guam.

Please remember, that it is illegal to import live reptiles, amphibians, and fish to Guam.
If you are interested in knowing of what you can and can not import to Guam, a list of species is located at the Department of Agriculture Division of Aquatics and Wildlife Resources (DAWR).

Brent Tibbats, a wildlife biologist at DAWR, states that if this seahorse found its way into Guam's waters, more ecological problems may arise to Guam's already fragile ecosystems.

Please, go against invasive species! Guam was already overtaken with the brown tree snake, rhinoceros beetles, fire ants, and many more species not native.

The people must come together and help the land in which they live on!

According to the Global Invasive Species Database, Guam currently houses 129 invasive species!
A lot of invasive species for a very small island.

You may access the database here:

Until next time, do your part and protect your land!
Protehi I Islan Guåhan!
